on saturday, mama and auntie becky took me to the shoe store. i remembered a couple of the ladies that worked there from the week before when mama took me to try on shoes. i think i told you before...i gave mom a hard time and wouldn't let her put the "real" shoes on my feet. i just couldn't...it felt weird. so, mama had to special order me these neat, soft shoes. well, the girl at the store was nice and ordered two different sizes to see which would fit me best. turns out, i have big feet -- size 4! it was fun trying them on this time. not only did they feel okay on my feet -- even though i curled up my foot as usual -- i had all the store workers watching me and giggling at me. they kept saying how cute i was. i kept looking at auntie becky and she had a big smile on her face. she told me my shoes looked like christopher robin's! you know, like from winnie-the-pooh! so i giggled and gave her a big smile back. she took me over to the tall mirror to show me what i looked like in my new shoes. they looked so sweet that i wanted to give myself a kiss in the mirror--like i do at grandmama's house! auntie becky said no-no, so then i looked around for mama. i saw her at the counter paying for my shoes so auntie becky put me down so i could go see mom. i crawled as fast as i could over to her. mama told the man at the counter "i guess they're his shoes now" since i was already breaking them in!
after we left the store, we went to the apple orchard. that's where i am in this picture. we saw the animals at the farm like we did in the summer, but there were lots of people there this time. they had a couple new animals too! an alpaca and peacocks! oh, and baby ostriches! wow, those are big birds!! just not yellow like the real big bird. i got to crawl around and get grass stains on my new shoes that day. they're still sweet, just a little green from grass and a little dirty from all the fun we're having at school!
