our second day up north we went to the grand traverse lighthouse in leelenau state park. it was a bummer though because it was freezing cold and pouring rain the whole morning. we made the best of it though. there was a playroom for kids in the gift shop at the lighthouse and we spent some time shopping and hanging out. then we took a tour of the lighthouse where i walked all the way down the spiral staircase and stairs all by myself...well, holding daddy's hands. mama didn't like it. she's always afraid i'm going to fall. i can't tell you how many times a day i hear "slow down" or "be careful on those stairs" at home!! but, on the way up to the top of the lighthouse, daddy just lifted me up and handed me to mom. it was really, really steep! in fact, mommy didn't even want to go to the top! daddy and i told her just to "do it!!" though and she did.
we left in between downpours in rain and drove down to leland, a historic fishtown on lake michigan. it was SO neat!! all these old buildings--shops and restaurants and fish smokehouses. daddy and i loved it. it made mama not feel so good though. she doesn't like the smell of fish at all, so she just walked around with the umbrella and found a little gift shop. daddy and i went and bought all this smoked fish to eat and bring home with us (hee hee...mommy wasn't all that happy about that!).
